Jordan Firstman’s ‘Club Kid’ Secures $17M Global Rights Deal After Heated Cannes Bidding War

Jordan Firstman’s ‘Club Kid’ secures a $17 million worldwide deal with A24 after a heated Cannes bidding war.

Club Kid, the directorial debut from Jordan Firstman, secured a $17 million global rights deal with A24 following a highly competitive bidding war at the Cannes Film Festival.

The deal closed after several days of aggressive competition among major distributors, with early bids reportedly coming from studios including Netflix, Searchlight Pictures, Focus Features and Mubi.

Industry reports indicated that the bidding for the project began in the seven-figure range but quickly escalated as interest intensified, eventually settling at $17 million.

Club Kid was financed and produced by Topic Studios, with additional production support from Stay Gold and several Oscar-winning producers.

The film, which also stars Firstman in the lead role, follows a former party promoter who is forced to confront adulthood when the son he never knew suddenly appears in his life.

The project explores themes of maturity, identity and responsibility, as the protagonist struggles between his hedonistic past and unexpected fatherhood.

Production credits include Academy Award winner Alex Coco and producers Galen Core and Ryan Heller, alongside Michael Bloom and others associated with Topic Studios.

The sale marks one of the most significant deals of this year’s Cannes market, which has seen fewer high-profile bidding wars compared to previous editions due to many films already securing distribution ahead of the festival.

Despite limited traditional blockbuster presence, Club Kid stood out as one of the most aggressively contested titles at the market.

Talent agency UTA handled the deal negotiations, with international sales support from Charades.
