ARISE Business Analyst, Chika Mbonu, says renaming government programmes will not automatically build public trust unless such interventions deliver measurable results and improve citizens’ lives.
Speaking during an interview with ARISE NEWS on Thursday, Mbonu said introducing new acronyms for government programmes does not automatically build public trust.
“Giving programmes new acronyms does not automatically create trust for citizens. What creates trust is when people see that these programmes are actually delivering results.”
He said government interventions should not be judged by the number of programmes introduced but by their effectiveness and the extent to which they improve the lives of Nigerians.
“The effectiveness of government interventions should be measured by their outcomes and the extent to which they improve the lives of Nigerians.”
Mbonu urged the government to move beyond announcing programmes and counting beneficiaries to demonstrating their actual impact on citizens.
“These programmes should not just be about the number of people who have benefited, we should be looking at the impact on their lives.”
He said accountability, transparency and measurable outcomes would be critical to rebuilding public trust in government interventions.
