On Monday, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, visited Afe Babalola the senior advocate of Nigeria at his office within the Afebabalola University, in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti state capital, where they had in-depth discussions on critical issues, including the situation of activists and lawyer Dele Farotimi.

After his visit, Peter Obi proceeded to the prison facility where the activist is being held. During the private meeting, Peter Obi expressed solidarity and engaged in a candid exchange aimed at addressing the prevailing challenges Farotimi is facing.

The hashtag, Free Dele Farotimi, has become even louder on social media, after a federal high court in Ekiti State, granted the human rights advocate a N50 million Naira bail with one surety.

The presiding judge, in the case on Monday, asked the surety to provide evidence of two years’ tax clearance and a letter of consent from the bank.

Olanike Balogun who hails from Osun State, has achieved a groundbreaking milestone, in the field of aviation, within the ‘Nigeria Customs Service by becoming the first female pilot in the organization!

Balogun was born in Kaduna State,
she began her career in the service in 2002, as a customs assistant. She previously worked as a cabin crew member in the air wing unit of the service, but her aspirations and resolve enabled her to become a licensed pilot.

With a sponsorship by the Nigeria Customs service, Balogun acquired her pilot certification from the Flying Academy in Miami, Florida! Balogun also has an advanced diploma in Air Ticketing and Cabin Services and a master’s degree in Public Administration from the Ahmadu Bello University!

Balogun has shared her journey of overcoming obstacles, emphasizing her choice of public service over more financially rewarding opportunities in the airline industry.
