“The governors appealed to all senators and members-elect to continue to give Mr President-elect all the support needed for the smooth take up of the 10th National Assembly,” the resolution said.
He however said if the court ruled that Tinubu won the election, he will congratulate him.
He said the senate under his leadership would have a complete control over its affairs without being confrontational with the executive.
“The induction aims to create a platform that will enable new governors fully understand key processes of governance that will ease their transition to governing.”
It said the North’s leadership of the legislature non-negotiable.
Both camps admitted they may not clear the 50% threshold to win outright.
The fierce critic of Tinubu has vowed to go into exile if the former Lagos State governor becomes Nigeria’s president.
They said it should remain until it is judicially determined with finality that such candidate has fulfilled the requirement of Section 134(2)(b) of the Constitution.
“I want to assure you that our party did not lose the presidential election. Let’s stay determined to retrieve our mandate in the last presidential election.”
He pleaded with the aggrieved senators to hold their fire, saying the APC leadership would revisit the zoning formula.
He said he won’t disappoint the people and would continue to strive to make Osun better than he met it.
