Emeka Beke: Wike Can’t Destroy APC In Rivers As He Has Done To The PDP, Fubara Must Be Allowed To Govern

Labour party chieftain, Nwokobia called on Nigerians to rise up and “mortify the ideology of godfatherism in the nation.”

As the crisis in Rivers State deepens, the factional chairman of the All Progressive Congress in the state, Emeka Beke has said that the ex-governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, should not be allowed to destroy the Rivers APC as he has destroyed the Peoples’ Democratic Party in the state.

Beke stated this in an interview with ARISE NEWS on Monday.

“The state has to remain at peace. Fubara has been elected as governor of Rivers State. That mandate that was given to him by the Rivers people, they should allow him to do it. The claimed lawmakers who claim they have joined the party, there is a process for you to join a political party.

“Are we in anarchy where people will not follow due process? If you want to join a political party, you must start from your unit. You just don’t jump from somewhere and say you are a member of a political party.

“Whatever is happening, Sim Fubara is the governor of the state, they should allow him to govern the state. Investors are leaving the state because of one crisis or the other. Is that what we are going to be experiencing in the next eight years?

“Wike has finished his tenure as governor. He should go and face his ministerial appointment in Abuja and allow Rivers state to have peace. He has destroyed PDP and is now coming to destroy APC.”

He also categorically stated that he remains the chairman of the All progressive congress in Rivers State, adding that the APC caretaker, Tony Okocha, parading as the Chairman, is simply an impostor.

“I was duly elected, there is no crisis in APC in Rivers state. I am going to drag them to anywhere they want to go. The national chairman in question was not elected. The national secretary was not elected. He was handpicked. I have told them let us not scatter the house that we have built over the years, because there was no time when there was a crisis in the state.

“Somebody somewhere who has left the PDP and has come to APC to create a crisis, has paid them money to dissolve the excos of the party in the state. For what? I can tell you this, we have one authentic chairman of the party and I am the authentic chairman.

“I am the APC Rivers Chairman. Tony Okocha is an impostor.”

On his part, the former national publicity secretary of the peoples’ democratic party, Kola Ologbondiyan, has also said there is no division in the PDP that would warrant anybody’s defection. He also agreed with the speaker of the Rivers State house of Assembly, Edison Ehie that the declaration of the seats of the defected lawmakers vacant is the right thing to do.

“It is clear that there is no division within the PDP to warrant anybody to leave the party on the grounds of division and I think that the spokesperson of the party has gone round every platform to make a declaration that we do not have any division in our party. I am confident that the government of Sim Fubara will provide an explanation for the demolition of the state house of assembly.

“It is clear that once you leave your party and go over to another party, you automatically have left your position. Except we are supporting strong personalities against strong institutions. These matters should not even be an issue of debate. Those who defected are well aware of the implications. There is no need to create needless tension in the state. I believe that if we will further grow our democracy, we should allow what the law says to happen, irrespective of who it affects. So, for me, I align myself with the position of the PDP that insists that the seats of those who left the party that elected them into the house of assembly, be declared vacant.”

Ologbondiyan also added that one of the factors killing the democracy in the country is the hunger to always align with the government at the federal level.

“I think what the party should do is to provide a platform of protection for governor Sim Fubara. The issue of alignment will kill our democracy and I am saying this with every sense of responsibility.”

Furthermore, Labour party chieftain, Chris Nwokobia said Karma Has Come Very Stridently Against Wike. He also called on the people of Rivers and Nigeria at large, to rise up and mortify the ideology of Godfatherism in the state.

“Karma has become more ferocious. You remember the story of Nyesom Wike’s dealings with Amaechi against Peter Odili and the likes and also the coup plan between Wike and Amaechi and what led to his leaving the PDP for the APC. So, karma has come so strongly.

“I think that now is the time for the people to begin to challenge the political oppressors and to mortify the Godfather, Godson ideology. That is why my advice to the FCT minister is to sheath his sword and face his job as minister and allow Fubara to govern Rivers people.”
