Nollywood actress and filmmaker Carolyna Hutchings has asked the public to stop associating her with disputes involving cast members of The Real Housewives of Lagos (RHOL), saying she has moved on from the reality show.
Hutchings made the statement in a lengthy post on Instagram, where she reflected on her experience on the show and said she no longer wants to be connected to the personal lives, disputes or activities of other cast members.
The actress, who has spent more than two decades in the entertainment industry, said her career and personal life should not be defined by her participation in the reality series.
“What I find unfair is that a show that ended in the first two months of 2025 is still being used to define who I am in 2026.”
Hutchings said she had built a career beyond reality television, having featured in more than 60 movies, produced three award-winning films and created jobs for over 500 people and talents.
She also described herself as an introvert who is selective about the people she allows into her personal space.
“I have said this several times, but apparently it needs to be said again: NO CAST MEMBER OF RHOL IS MY FRIEND NOT ON THE SHOW, NOT AFTER THE SHOW.”
According to the actress, her kindness towards people should not be interpreted as friendship. She added that she had made her position on relationships within the show clear while the programme was airing and during a television interview.
Hutchings also addressed recent social media discussions involving RHOL cast members, saying content she posted for other purposes had been connected to disputes she was not involved in.
“Recently, there was a dispute between two cast members and somehow my video was circulated and used to demean one of them over a matter I have absolutely no interest in. Keep me out of it.”
She said a post promoting one of her movies had also been linked to the reality show, despite her stating that she was working on other projects, including two movies and a book launch.
Hutchings further criticised the continued focus on her RHOL experience, saying it had overshadowed other aspects of her career, private life and family.
“As an award-winning actress and producer with over two decades of experience, I find it appalling that my career, achievements and body of work can be reduced to 13 episodes of a reality TV show.”
The actress said she was now focused on her work, businesses and personal goals, adding that she had no interest in online disputes.
She said her participation in RHOL was a chapter she enjoyed but considers closed.
“THE SHOW IS OVER FOR ME. I HAVE MOVED ON.”
Hutchings also left open the possibility of returning to the show, but stressed that the decision would be hers.
“If I decide to return for another season, trust me, I will deliver excellently, as I always do whether as the saint or the villain.”
She expressed appreciation to the producers, Showmax and Africa Magic for the opportunity to participate in the franchise and described her experience on the show as memorable.
The actress concluded by asking the public to respect her decision to move on from RHOL.
“BUT FOR NOW.
LET ME ENJOY MY REALITY IN PEACE.”
“LEAVE ME OUT OF THE DRAMA.”
Hutchings’ statement comes as she focuses on her acting, filmmaking and other business interests, while asking that her future activities no longer be linked to the reality show or its cast members.
