Nollywood actress Adebimpe Oyebade, popularly known as Mo Bimpe, has recalled being left out of social gatherings because she did not have children at the time.
The actress, who is married to actor Lateef Adedimeji, shared the experience after attending a celebration for baby Rakeem, saying the event brought back memories of a difficult period in her life.
Mo Bimpe said she once noticed that people she knew personally did not invite her to occasions such as baby showers, naming ceremonies and children’s birthday parties.
She said she initially wondered what she had done wrong before later discovering that some people deliberately excluded her because she did not have children.
“Later, I found out that some people intentionally left me out because I didn’t have children,” she wrote.
According to the actress, the experience was painful because she wanted to participate in the celebrations and share in the joy of people close to her.
She also used her experience to call for greater sensitivity towards women who are waiting to conceive, noting that they may already be dealing with emotional pressure.
“What many people don’t realize is that struggling to conceive is already hard enough,” she said.
Mo Bimpe urged people not to exclude women from social occasions because they do not have children, stressing that they remain deserving of friendship and inclusion.
“A woman without a child is not less deserving of love, friendship, inclusion, or celebration,” she wrote.
Reflecting on how her own circumstances changed, the actress revealed that she is now a mother of triplets.
“There was a time I had no child. Today, I am a mother of triplets,” she said.
She also encouraged women who are still waiting to become mothers not to lose hope, drawing from her own experience of eventually having children.
Mo Bimpe concluded by offering prayers and encouragement to women going through similar experiences, urging them to remain hopeful.
