Netflix Renews Crime Drama Nemesis For Second Season

Netflix has renewed Nemesis for a second season after the crime drama drew strong global viewership following its May debut.

Netflix has announced that its crime drama Nemesis will return for a second season, following a successful debut that saw the series rank among the platform’s most-watched English-language television shows worldwide.

The streaming platform confirmed the renewal after the series, which premiered in May, spent five consecutive weeks in Netflix’s global Top 10 English-language TV rankings and climbed to the number one spot during its second week. The announcement signals the continuation of the show’s story, with production now expected to move forward on a new season.

Series co-creator and executive producer Tani Marole said the upcoming season would expand on the story while addressing unanswered questions from the first installment.

“We’re very grateful to have it… We’re going to make sure those questions get answered — and even more questions are available for you to answer. Make no mistakes, season two is going to be bigger and better,” Marole said.

The series stars Matthew Law and Y’lan Noel alongside Cleopatra Coleman, Tre Hale, Domenick Lombardozzi, Jonnie Park, Ariana Guerra, Gabrielle Dennis, Michael Potts, Sophina Brown, Cedric Joe and Jeff Pierre. Season one also featured guest appearances from Moe Irvin, Quincy Isaiah, Jay Reeves, Mike O’Malley, Stephanie Sigman, Khalilah Joi, Shane Johnson, Siua Ikale’o, Dawnn Lewis, Mark Feuerstein and Chris Bauer.

Showrunner, creator and executive producer Courtney A. Kemp attributed the renewal to the show’s audience, thanking viewers for their support.

“I feel blessed to get a season two. We thank the fans…it’s because of them — there’s no other reason. It’s them showing up, them talking about it and their huge social media response. We are grateful to Netflix for recognizing the power of our audience and bringing us back for the fans,” Kemp said.

According to the official synopsis, Nemesis follows an expert criminal and a police detective whose pursuit of one another unfolds into a story exploring crime, family, marriage and personal identity.

Netflix Vice President of Studio Scripted Series, UCAN, Nne Ebong, praised the creators and highlighted the show’s global reception.

“Courtney and Tani have built something truly special with ‘Nemesis’ — a show that captivated audiences and never let go. Watching the global response has been extraordinary; this series resonated with fans in a way that was electric and far-reaching. Their vision, craft, and passion are unmatched, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to continue this journey with them into Season 2,” Ebong said.
