Uber Wins Bid To Dismiss £340m Lawsuits By London Black Cab Drivers

Uber wins bid to dismiss £340 million lawsuits filed by London black cab drivers and former private hire companies over licensing allegations.

Uber has won its bid to dismiss two linked lawsuits worth about £340 million ($453 million) brought by thousands of London black cab drivers and two former private hire companies.

The ride-hailing company said on Monday that the High Court had ruled in its favour in the cases, which were filed in 2024 over allegations concerning how it obtained a private hire vehicle operating licence in London.

The claimants alleged that Uber provided “misleading and inaccurate information” to Transport for London, the authority responsible for regulating transport services in the British capital.

Uber denied the allegations, maintaining that the lawsuits were filed outside the six-year limitation period for bringing such claims.

The company argued that the cases should therefore be dismissed on the grounds that they were brought too late.

A copy of the High Court’s ruling was not immediately available.
