Reactions have trailed the protest that rocked Kano State over the weekend in the wake of the dethronement of Aminu Ado Bayero the 15th Emir of Kano.

Bayero who was deposed last thursday, after the governor of the state, Abba Yusuf signed a new law that repealed the Emirate Council Law 2019, returned to Kano in the early hours of Saturday, and moved into the palace in Nassarawa Local government area. Governor Abba Yusuf immediately ordered for his arrest, for creating tension in the state.

Supporters of Ado Bayero on Sunday, trooped to the streets of Kano, in protest holding banners and placards with inscriptions demanding that Bayero be reinstated, while chanting anti-government songs.

They also erected bonfires on busy roads, while alleging that the Emirship tussle has everything to do with politics. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s trip to lagos to inaugurate the lagos calabar coastal highway, has been met with mixed reactions Over the weekend, one lane of the third mainland bridge was shut down, ahead of his arrival, and was lined with the Nigerian and APC flags, as well as photos of the President in preparation for his one year in office. A group of crossdressers in Ikorodu, Lagos State, have staged a protest to demand for the immediate release of popular crossdresser, Idris Okyneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, who was sentenced to six months in prison in April for abusing the naira. Bobrisky is currently serving time at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre until October 2024.

The award for outstanding governors were given to the lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Peter Mbah of Enugu State, Godwin Obaseki of Edo state, and the Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke who lit up the stage dancing to Davido’s hit song, FEEL.
