Member, Federal House of Representatives, Musa Sarkin Adar, on Thursday’s Morning Show maintained that regionalizing politics will not do the country any good, citing the concerns of Nigerians who believe the North has not improved in spite of Buhari’s Northern affiliation.

He said, “Let me say what some people may not want me to say, some people are saying when President Buhari became the President, what have the north gotten compared to what the south have gotten? They are saying the North did not get much better because Buhari is the president.”

He further explained, making reference to the lack of capital projects exemplified by the Abuja – Kano road that has not been completed in seven years, as well as another sizable unfinished project.

According to Ader “They are asking about the Abuja – Kano road, the major single project that cuts across the entire north or that will benefit much of the entire north, that has not been completed in seven years, while the second Niger bridge which has been awarded since after the civil war has not seen the light of the day until President Muhammudu Buhari came.”

He then stressed that all these point to the fact that regionalism does not exist in APC’s leadership strategy.

In his words “Will you now come and tell me so simply because a person came from a region that region will benefit because of that? If this is what PDP, LP are going to campaign upon, I’m sorry for this country.”

In light of this, Honorable Musa urged all political parties not to base their campaigns on ethnicity but on the ability of their candidates to move Nigeria forward.

He said, “We should not campaign on regionalism, we should not campaign on ethnicity, we should not campaign on faith. We should campaign on the performance and capacity and integrity of the person and equity, a person who is going to develop Nigeria not develop his own region.”
