PSG Overcome Bayern To Set Up Champions League Final With Arsenal

PSG earned a hard-fought 1-1 draw at Bayern to win 6-5 on aggregate and secure a Champions League final clash with Arsenal.

Paris Saint-Germain booked their place in the UEFA Champions League final after defeating Bayern Munich to complete a semifinal aggregate victory and stay on course to retain their European title.

Luis Enrique’s side arrived in Munich holding a narrow 5-4 advantage from a thrilling first-leg encounter in Paris and produced a composed performance at Allianz Arena to secure progression despite late pressure from the hosts.

PSG struck early through Ousmane Dembele after a dazzling run and assist from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia just three minutes into the match, silencing the home crowd and strengthening the visitors’ aggregate lead.

Bayern Munich responded with sustained attacking pressure but struggled to break through PSG’s disciplined defence, with Harry Kane largely contained for most of the contest. The German side also saw penalty appeals waved away in the first half after Joao Neves handled the ball following a clearance from team-mate Vitinha.

PSG created several chances after the break, with Desire Doue going close repeatedly, but Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer kept the hosts in contention with a series of important saves.

Kane eventually scored deep into stoppage time, his 55th goal of the season, but Bayern could not overturn the deficit as Vincent Kompany’s side exited the competition in disappointment.

The French champions will now face Arsenal in the Champions League final in Budapest on Saturday, 30 May.
