The All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Osun State, Munirudeen Oyebamiji, has accused the state government of doing little to promote development and improve the state’s economy.
Oyebamiji made the allegation during the ARISE 2026 Governorship Election Town Hall, where he criticised the administration’s record and said Osun residents were ready for a change.
He said he had visited all 31 local government areas in the state three times during his campaign and claimed residents expressed dissatisfaction with the government.
“Everybody responded and said that yes, we need to take this government. This government that is doing nothing to promote and to enhance both the development and the Economic sector of our state.”
Oyebamiji said his consultations extended beyond party members to community leaders, artisans and civil servants.
He said the consultations convinced him that residents were prepared to change the state government.
“By special grace of God, I’m coming in as a governor of Osun, come 15th of August 2026.”
The APC candidate also questioned the state government’s use of its revenue, contrasting the funds received by the current administration with the revenues available to previous governments.
“For these three and a half years of this government, they have collected, the government collected 650 billion Naira. How can you match 650 billion Naira to what is happening in Osun today?”
Oyebamiji described the situation as “an aberration” and said his administration would adopt a different approach to governance.
“This is an aberration. So just like I said that we were going to utilise it…”
He also pledged to run an inclusive government that would ensure resources reach communities across the state.
“I’m going to run an inclusive government and I’m going to make sure that all my people, cities, towns, villages benefit from my government.”
