The Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has defended his fondness for dancing, saying the hobby does not affect his performance in office.
Adeleke made the remarks during the 2026 Governorship Election ARISE Town Hall meeting on Tuesday, where he dismissed criticism of his public dancing and insisted that his record in office should be the basis for assessing his performance.
“And I tell you what, nobody, I repeat, nobody will stop me from dancing. As I’m dancing, I’m working.”
He said he is both a “very prudent person” and a “very serious person”, stressing that there is a time for work and a time for leisure.
“So they are jealous because they cannot dance. If they want, I will teach them how to dance. But that does not stop my walk,” he said.
The governor also turned his attention to his political opponent, Oyebamiji, accusing him of refusing to accept defeat and using his relationship with President Bola Tinubu to cause problems in Osun.
“Just because I defeated you, go and sit down. This is democracy. It is what Osun people want. Osun people is the one that will decide,” Adeleke said.
He also alleged that some of his supporters had been arrested and accused his opponents of using federal power to intimidate voters.
“Why are you using federal might? To arrest? To intimidate? Osun people, and I know they are ready,” he said.
Adeleke expressed confidence in his chances in the election, saying his record and the support of Osun residents would secure his victory.
“The work that I’ve done speaks for itself. Come this Saturday, I’ll be victorious.”
He added: “My people love me.”
