The OK Movement, a political support platform working to foster collaboration among supporters of the presidential candidate of Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, and his deputy, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, has appointed former National Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), High Chief Peter Ameh, as its National Director-General.
The movement said the appointment was aimed at strengthening its nationwide mobilisation efforts and expanding its grassroots presence ahead of the 2027 general election.
Announcing the appointment in a statement on Tuesday, National Convener of the movement, Hon. Jackie Wayas, said the decision was unanimously reached by the steering committee after considering Ameh’s extensive experience in politics, democratic governance, and public service.
According to Wayas, the appointment marks a major milestone in the organisation’s efforts to consolidate its structures and provide strategic leadership as it intensifies activities across the country.
He described Ameh as a seasoned political leader, democracy advocate, and statesman whose credentials in public service and electoral reforms make well suited for the role.
Wayas stated that Ameh’s previous service as National Chairman of IPAC positioned him as a respected voice in Nigeria’s democratic process, where he championed electoral reforms, political inclusion, and stronger democratic institutions.
Ways said, “The Steering Committee is delighted to welcome High Chief Peter Ameh as the National Director General of the OK Movement.
“His wealth of experience in politics, leadership and nation-building makes him the ideal person to provide strategic direction as we continue to build a united platform for national transformation.”
He added that the committee was confident Ameh’s leadership would strengthen the movement’s organisational structure, deepen its nationwide engagement, and enhance its ability to mobilise Nigerians around a shared vision of a more prosperous nation.
The movement also said Ameh had consistently advocated accountability, transparency, good governance, and institutional reforms, earning respect across the country’s political divide.
According to the statement, the appointment comes as the organisation seeks to broaden its grassroots network and deepen democratic participation ahead of the next general election.
The group reaffirmed its commitment to promoting visionary leadership, national unity, and people-centred governance, saying it would continue to mobilise citizens around democratic values and national development.
It described itself as one of the emerging political support structures encouraging collaboration among progressive political forces, particularly supporters of Obi and Kwankwaso, while working towards strengthening democratic participation and promoting good governance before the 2027 polls.
The movement congratulated Ameh on his appointment and expressed confidence that his leadership would advance its objectives of building a broad-based national platform committed to accountability, national transformation, and inclusive governance.
