NHRC Disowns Posts After Hackers Take Over Official X Account

National Human Rights Commission warns public to ignore posts from its hacked X account after hackers allegedly seized unauthorised control.

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has announced that its official X account has been compromised and placed under the unauthorised control of an individual or account operating as @ephesus_lib.

The Commission, in a public disclaimer issued by its Director of Corporate Affairs and External Linkages, Fatimah Agwai, said it neither authorised nor endorsed any posts, statements, messages, links or other content currently being published from the account.

It urged members of the public, development partners, stakeholders and the media to disregard all communications emanating from the compromised account until further notice.

According to the NHRC, steps are already being taken to address the breach and regain control of the official X account.

The Commission said it would communicate with the public and its partners through its verified and established channels once an official medium on X becomes available.

It also apologised for any inconvenience caused by the incident and appealed for the continued understanding and cooperation of the public and its stakeholders.
