NAF Disrupts Suspected Kidnappers With Air Support In Benue

The Nigerian Air Force says its air support disrupted suspected kidnappers in Benue and supported ground forces during the operation.

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says its air support has disrupted the activities of suspected kidnappers during an operation in Ogbadigbo, Benue State, near the Enugu–Benue boundary.

The NAF said its aircraft provided close air support to surface forces targeting the suspected kidnappers.

It said the operation disrupted the activities of the criminal elements and supported the advance of ground forces.

Following the mission, the pilot exercised professional discretion to make a precautionary landing about 10 nautical miles from the airfield, the NAF said.

The force said the landing was carried out in line with established operational and safety procedures following combat missions.

The helicopter has since returned to base, according to the NAF.

The force said it would continue to provide close air support to ground forces and conduct coordinated air and ground operations against criminal elements.

It said the operation reflected its continued effort to deny criminal groups freedom of action and improve security in affected communities.

The statement was signed by Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information, NAF Headquarters, on 7 October 2026.
