Social media giant Meta has reached a settlement with 29 US states to resolve a court case over child safety on Facebook and Instagram.
Under the settlement, Meta will pay up to $16.68 billion (£12.26 billion), according to Reuters.
The court judgment requires the technology company to introduce new measures for teenage users, including daily usage limits and restrictions blocking access to the platforms at night.
The measures are aimed at strengthening protections for young users and limiting their exposure to potentially harmful content and excessive social media use.
Meta, which owns Facebook and Instagram, denied wrongdoing as part of the settlement.
The agreement brings an end to the legal dispute involving allegations surrounding the safety of children and teenagers on the platforms.
