According to a report by the Financial Times, citing people familiar with the matter, the Italian luxury sports car maker has already met its annual sales goal for the Luce, less than two months after the model was launched on May 25.
Ferrari had targeted sales of just under 500 units of the €550,000 ($626,285) electric vehicle this year, with the allocation reportedly selling out in record time.
The company declined to comment on the report. However, Ferrari previously said it would provide an update on the market reception for the Luce on Thursday when it announces its half-year financial results.
The Luce, Ferrari’s first fully electric model, is a four-door, five-seat family car designed to broaden the company’s product lineup.
Despite strong demand, the vehicle has attracted mixed reactions from critics over its unconventional and polarising styling, largely attributed to former Apple designers Jony Ive and Marc Newson.
Last month, a senior Ferrari executive defended the design, saying the car’s distinctive appearance was primarily driven by aerodynamic requirements and would require time for customers to fully appreciate.
The reported sales milestone underscores continued demand for Ferrari’s luxury vehicles, particularly in China, even as the company enters the competitive electric vehicle market.
