Edo Guber: Only Uzodinma-Led Clearance Committee Can Announce Primary Results, APC Says

APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka, clarified in Abuja.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Saturday drew public attention to a live broadcast on major national television stations and online news outlets of results of its ongoing governorship primary in Edo State by some unauthorized persons.

According to the party, only the Governor Hope Uzodinma-led Edo State APC Governorship Primary Election Committee is duly authorized to undertake final collation and announcement of results of the primary election in the State. 

The National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Felix Morka, made the clarification in a statement in Abuja.

He said, “The attention of the National Working Committee (NWC) of our great party has been drawn to a live broadcast on major national television stations and online news outlets of results of the ongoing Edo State APC Governorship Primary Election by some unauthorized persons.

“We wish to state categorically that only the Governor Hope Uzodinma-led Edo State APC Governorship Primary Election Committee is duly authorized to undertake final collation and announcement of results of the Primary Election in the State. 

“We urge all party members, officials in the State, and the general public to disregard the said announcement of results by these unauthorized persons.”

Arise News reports that the Uzodinma-led committee had cleared twelve aspirants for the primary election political contest for the Edo State governorship election scheduled for September 21.

As the leader of the APC in Edo State, a former Governor of the State and former National Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole, is the cynosure of all eyes and man of the moment.

He has been a regular visitor to APC secretariat in Abuja, although mission remains unknown. 

The 12 successful aspirants cleared for the primaries are a former Director of Finance and Administration at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), General Charles Airhiavbere (Rtd); former Chairman of APC in Edo State, Col. David Imuse (Rtd); a businessman, Gideon Ikhine; ex-Minister of State, National Economic Planning, Prince Clem Agba; Senator representing Edo Central, Monday Okpebholo; and lawmaker representing Etsako federal constituency, Anamero Dekeri

Others are a former Governor of Edo State, Prof. Oserhiemen Osunbor; APC South-South ex-Zonal Organising Secretary, Blessing Agbohmere; a member of the House of Representatives, Dennis Idahosa; immediate past Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Ernest Afolabi and a politician, Emmanuel Momoh.

A former governorship candidate, Osagie Ize-Iyamu resigned 24 hours to the primaries while a former Deputy Governor, Lucky Imasuen, stepped down on the day of the primary.
