The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has ordered troops of Joint Task Force North Central, Operation Savannah Shield, to intensify operations against terrorists, bandits and kidnappers in Kwara State and neighbouring states.
The Army Chief gave the directive during his maiden operational visit to the headquarters of the task force at Sobi Barracks, Ilorin.
According to a statement by Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel Apollonia Anele, Shaibu asked troops to sustain operations aimed at removing criminal groups threatening peace in the region.

He also assured the troops that more operational support and combat equipment would be provided to strengthen clearance operations in Kwara and Niger states.
Shaibu stressed the importance of discipline and professionalism among personnel, while reaffirming his commitment to troop welfare.
He said improved welfare remained important for morale and operational effectiveness.
