The 2026 edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards ended with My Father’s Shadow taking the top prize for Best Movie. Actors including Uzor Arukwe, Linda Ejiofor and Bucci Franklin also picked up major awards during the ceremony.
The awards celebrated film and television productions across Africa. My Father’s Shadow won Best Movie, while Akinola Davies Jr won Best Director for the same film. Uzor Arukwe won Best Lead Actor for Colours of Fire, and Linda Ejiofor won Best Lead Actress for The Serpent’s Gift.
Linda Ejiofor also won Best Supporting Actress for The Herd. Bucci Franklin received the Best Supporting Actor award for To Kill A Monkey.
Nigerian Idol season 10 won Best Unscripted M-Net Original. Emmanuel Kanaga and Sophia Chisom won Best Digital Content Creator for Leave To Live.
Uche Montana received the Trailblazer Award. Actors Sola Sobowale and Kanayo O. Kanayo were honoured with Industry Merit Awards.
To Kill A Monkey won Best Editing, while Kabelo Thathe won Best Cinematography for the same project.
Lisabi: A Legend Is Born won Best Indigenous Language film in West Africa.
Other winners included My Father’s Shadow for Best Director and To Kill A Monkey for Best Editing. The event also recognised productions in television, digital content, documentaries and indigenous language films across different parts of Africa.
