The Vice Chancellor of Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology (ADUSTECH), Wudil, Professor Musa Tukur Yakasai, has commended Kano State, Alhaji Abba Yusuf, for approving the implementation of a new salary review for the Academic and Non-Teaching Staff of the University.
In a statement issued on Monday by Abdullahi Datti Abdullahi, Head of the Information and Public Affairs Unit of the University, the Vice-Chancellor said members of staff received the news of the Governor’s approval with great joy and appreciation.
Professor Yakasai described the gesture as a demonstration of the Governor’s commitment to workers’ welfare and to the development of the education sector in the state.
He said improved remuneration would not only enhance the welfare and morale of members of staff but would also encourage greater commitment, productivity and professionalism in the discharge of their responsibilities.
The Vice Chancellor noted that the decision was particularly significant at a time when universities across the country were facing increasing challenges associated with the rising cost of living and the need to retain highly qualified academic and non-teaching personnel.
He expressed the appreciation of the Governing Council, Management and entire staff of ADUSTECH to Governor Yusuf for what he described as a timely and people-oriented intervention.
Professor Yakasai assured the Governor that the University community would reciprocate the gesture through renewed dedication to teaching, research, innovation and community service, in line with the institution’s mandate.
He further pledged the commitment of the University Management to ensuring that the implementation of the approved salary review was carried out effectively and in accordance with the relevant government directives.
The Vice Chancellor also called on members of staff to continue supporting the administration in its efforts to position ADUSTECH as one of the leading institution of science, technology and innovation in Nigeria.
It could be recalled that the State Executive Council had recently approved ₦228,195,210.83, comprising ₦141,082,223.37 for Academic Staff under the ASUU agreement and ₦87,112,987.46 for Non-Academic Staff under SSANU Agreement.
