Yusuf Flags Off Subsidised Fertiliser Distribution, Invites EFCC, ICPC To Monitor Exercise

Kano Governor Abba Yusuf launches subsidised fertiliser distribution and invites anti-graft agencies to monitor the exercise across 44 LGAs.

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has flagged off the distribution of about 150 truckloads of subsidised fertiliser to farmers across the 44 local government areas of the state.

The Governor also urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to monitor the distribution to ensure it reaches eligible farmers.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, Governor Yusuf said the distribution demonstrates his administration’s unwavering commitment to supporting farmers and strengthening the agricultural sector.

He noted that the intervention is designed to ease the burden of rising farming costs, increase crop yields, and improve the livelihoods of farmers across the state.

The Governor charged local government chairmen to ensure that the fertiliser is distributed strictly to genuine farmers in a transparent and equitable manner.

He further urged security agencies in the state to monitor the exercise to ensure the fertiliser reaches genuine farmers and to eliminate diversion, hoarding, and other sharp practices.

He directed the 44 local government chairmen to conduct the exercise with honesty, fairness, and accountability, stressing that the intervention is aimed at reducing the cost of farming, increasing agricultural productivity, and strengthening food security.
