Yahaya Bello Scholarship Recipient Graduates With First-Class Law Degree In UK

Yahaya Bello scholarship recipient Oluwabukolami Adeyemi earns first-class law degree in the UK and secures master’s sponsorship next.

Oluwabukolami Adeyemi, the overall best candidate in the 2023 Cambridge IGCSE and Cambridge AS examinations, has graduated with a first-class degree in Law from a university in Newcastle, United Kingdom, after studying on a scholarship provided by former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello.

Adeyemi came to national attention in 2023 after emerging as the overall best candidate in the Cambridge IGCSE and Cambridge AS examinations. The achievement, which placed her ahead of more than 100 participants from over 100 countries, earned her recognition from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi and other prominent Nigerians.

The Yagba West Local Government Area indigene was received by Yahaya Bello at the Kogi State Government House in August 2023, where the former governor announced a scholarship covering her tuition, accommodation, living expenses and other costs throughout her studies in the United Kingdom.

She has now completed her Law degree with first-class honours, fulfilling the promise shown by her earlier academic achievements.

Following her graduation, Bello has offered her another scholarship to pursue a master’s degree in the United Kingdom.

In an emotional appreciation video, Oluwabukolami described the former governor as a “God sent to humanity”.

Her father, Olumide Adeyemi, thanked Bello for supporting his daughter’s education, saying the intervention ensured her dream of studying abroad became a reality.

He said it would have been difficult for him to fund her overseas education despite her outstanding academic ability.

Adeyemi added that Bello’s support had also benefited many other students before and after his daughter’s scholarship, and prayed for God’s continued blessings, good health and long life for the former governor.

In September 2023, Bello fulfilled his promise of a private scholarship to support Oluwabukolami’s law studies in the United Kingdom after she received the Cambridge award for recording the highest scores in the 2022 Cambridge IGCSE and Cambridge AS Level examinations among students from 146 countries.
