Wisconsin Democrats have selected Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley as their nominee for governor, setting up a November general election contest against Republican US Representative Tom Tiffany.
Crowley’s nomination sets the stage for a closely watched statewide race as Democrats seek to retain control of the governor’s office.
Tiffany will represent the Republican Party in November, setting up a contest between the two candidates for Wisconsin’s top elected office.
Crowley, who has served as Milwaukee County executive, will now turn his attention to the general election campaign as he seeks to expand his support across the state and win the governorship for Democrats.
The contest is expected to attract significant attention as both candidates campaign on key issues affecting Wisconsin voters ahead of the November election.
