Why Commonwealth University Conferred Honourary Doctorate on Propetrol CEO Ebohon

He has guided his oil and gas firm to exponential growth through some of Nigeria’s toughest economic times.

Commonwealth University in the United Kingdom has conferred on Harry Ebohon, an honorary Doctorate Degree in Business Administration.

The Edo State-born philanthropist, is the Managing Director/Chief Executive of Propetrol Limited, a Nigerian oil and gas company.

The honorary doctorate is awarded to individuals who have made extraordinary academic impact and social contributions, particularly in fields of relevance at national and international levels.

The degree comes on the heels of another recognition by Forbes, when Ebohon was awarded ‘Best of Africa’ Forbes Most Outstanding CEO 2021.

Since the founding of Propetrol, Ebohon – a bunker trading czar – has guided the oil firm to exponential growth through some of Nigeria’s toughest economic times.

Since its early days as a provider of hauling services for petroleum products, Propetrol has developed strong competencies in the trading of bunkers, oil and gas products, trade financing and value engineering across shipping and general maritime services.

It filled a void and made it possible for other local firms to participate in the bunker trade market, which was previously dominated by foreign players, and rife with shady suppliers in West Africa.

Currently, a sizable number of foreign exploration and production firms, marine tanker operators, operators of special offshore projects, and owners of transport fleets make up Propetrol’s broad customer base.

Ebohon is an alumnus of the Lagos Business and Harvard Business School and is also an Associate member of the Institute of Directors, Nigeria.

He sits on the Board of many other companies and serves in the advisory council of other establishments.

As an astute leader, Ebohon is a Platinum Leadership Honouree by the Coalition of Ethnic Nationality Leaders of Nigeria and recipient of the National Legacy Award on Nation Building.

He has also been recognised by The Nelson Mandela and Kwame Nkrumah Leadership Series.
