Uzodimma: I’ll Run For Senate in 2027,  Victory Guaranteed With APC Unity

Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma reaffirms his intention to contest for the Senate in 2027 as he calls for APC unity ahead of elections.

Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma has reiterated his intention to contest for the Senate in the 2027 general election, saying he will be among the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates seeking election.

Uzodimma made the declaration on Wednesday while addressing the party’s leaders and members at the inauguration of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, where he also called for unity among party members ahead of the elections.

Speaking at the event, the governor said the party’s responsibility to secure President Bola Tinubu’s re-election also extended to its other candidates, including himself.

“I will be on the ballot as a senatorial candidate,” he said.

Uzodimma also stressed the need for party members to work together to secure victory at the polls.

“So all of us, the challenge of re-electing Mr. President is the challenge of re-electing every member of APC. It follows that our party has no excuse not to win.”

He said the party must resolve internal disagreements and support all candidates seeking election on its platform.

“Victory is guaranteed when we are united. Victory is guaranteed when we are committed and work as a focused team. So we must reject any misgivings we have against each other.

“We must reconcile our differences. We must rally as one family behind the party and all the candidates. We must speak to Nigerians as one family, with one voice and one message.”

The governor further urged party members to intensify their campaign efforts, saying the period leading to the election required greater commitment from APC leaders at all levels.

“And I’m simply asking that we carry it with greater urgency from today. Treating each of the 94 days ahead of us as a working day,” he said.

He also called on candidates to put aside disagreements arising from the party’s primaries and work towards a common goal.

“The primaries are behind us. Whatever disagreement they may have left, the success of one of us cannot be built on the failure of another. And every candidate who carries our flag deserves the full support of the whole party.”
