UNGA: Sule Woos Global Investors, Seeks Stronger Collaboration For Nasarawa

Nasarawa Governor Abdullahi Sule says the state is ready for global investment, especially in solid minerals and other key sectors.

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to unlocking global investment opportunities.

The Governor, who said the state’s rich solid minerals sector remains a major driver for local economic growth added that Nasarawa State would be ooened to global investments, particularly in solid minerals and other areas of mutual economic interest.

Sule, while speaking to journalists at New York, USA shortly after an event to brief Vice President Kashim Shettima on Nigeria’s participation in the 81st United Nations General Assembly.

He disclosed that Nasarawa State, home to lithium, baryte, and other critical minerals, is a key part of Nigeria’s economic diplomacy push at UNGA this year.

Speaking alongside his Kebbi State counterpart, Nasir Idris, Governor Sule explained the abundant solid mineral resources in Nasarawa and Kebbi states place them in a strong position to attract international investors and promote economic development.

Governor Sule’s participation in this year’s UNGA is targeted at leveraging the international platform to promote Nasarawa State, attract investments and create new economic opportunities for the people of the state.

Vice President Kashim Shettima is leading Nigeria’s delegation to the global event holding in New York, United States, after President Bola Tinubu mandated him to represent Nigeria.

The 81st UNGA General Debate holds from September 22 to 28, 2026, under the theme “Restoring trust, managing transformation: A United Nations that delivers for all”. Shettima is expected to deliver Nigeria’s national statement and participate in high-level meetings on the right to development, climate action, and economic diplomacy.

He, therefore, called for stronger synergy between Africa and the Caribbean in tackling shared development challenges, particularly climate change, sustainable infrastructure and innovative financing.
