Ukraine Strikes Deep Inside Russia As Drones Hit Major Oil Refinery Near Perm

Ukraine says drones struck a major Russian refinery near Perm, disrupting oil processing and supply infrastructure deep inside Russia.

Ukraine has said its Security Service (SBU) carried out a long-range drone strike on an oil refinery close to the Russian city of Perm, in what appears to be a second consecutive attack on energy facilities in the region.

According to the SBU, the target was a Lukoil-owned refinery located more than 1,500 km from the Ukrainian border. It is one of Russia’s largest processing plants, with an annual capacity of nearly 13 million metric tons of oil.

The agency claims the strike damaged a key primary processing unit at the facility, effectively taking it out of operation. It also reported a renewed attack on a nearby oil pumping station that supplies crude to the refinery, causing fresh fires at the site.

The Russian company Lukoil has not publicly responded to the allegations.

Ukraine has increasingly targeted Russian oil infrastructure in recent months, aiming to weaken Moscow’s ability to generate energy revenues that support its war effort. The latest strike comes as heightened pressure on global energy markets driven by broader geopolitical tensions and sanctions dynamics.
