The Turaki-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says Governor Ademola Adeleke’s victory in the Osun State governorship election is a warning to the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The faction said the outcome of the August 15 election showed what Nigerians could achieve when they remain determined to defend their votes.
In a statement made available to journalists by PDP National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, the party commended the people of Osun State for resisting what it described as attempts by the APC to manipulate the electoral process.
The faction urged Nigerians to remain vigilant ahead of the 2027 elections and ensure that their votes are protected.
It also raised concerns over alleged interference by security agencies and other national institutions during the Osun election.
The PDP warned that such interference could undermine the democratic process and affect the credibility of future elections.
The faction described Adeleke’s victory as an “advance payment” against the APC, saying the result had demonstrated the resolve of voters to reject what it described as ineffective and destructive leadership.
The party said the Osun election had provided an indication of what could happen in 2027 if Nigerians remain committed to voting and defending their ballots.
It called on opposition supporters and voters across the country not to become complacent, stressing the need for continued vigilance as the 2027 elections approach.
The faction’s position comes after Adeleke secured victory in the Osun governorship election, defeating his closest challenger in a contest that drew national attention because of its potential implications for the 2027 political landscape.
