President Bola Tinubu on Friday arrived in Lagos following a three-nation diplomatic visit to France, Kenya, and Rwanda centred on economic reforms, investment promotion, and regional partnerships.
The President’s official aircraft, Nigeria Air Force 1, touched down at about 7:12 p.m. at the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja.
He was received on arrival by Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu; Deputy Governor, Dr Obafemi Hamzat; Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila; Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, alongside other government officials.
Tinubu is expected to participate in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary elections scheduled to commence on Saturday.
Ahead of the exercise, the President had appealed to party faithful to maintain peace and conduct themselves in the spirit of sportsmanship throughout the primaries.
“Keep the peace and be ready to play as sportsmen and women in the overall interest of the party and our country,” Tinubu said in a statement issued on Thursday.
During the foreign trip, the President held engagements with global investors in France, where he emphasised transparency, fiscal discipline, and the rationale behind his administration’s economic reforms.
In Nairobi, Kenya, Tinubu participated in the Africa Forward Summit co-hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron and Kenyan President William Ruto.
At the summit, the Nigerian leader called for reforms to the global financial architecture and advocated stronger economic integration aimed at accelerating Africa’s development and industrial growth.
He also highlighted Nigeria’s blue economy potential and pledged to make the country’s maritime intelligence infrastructure available to willing Gulf of Guinea states to strengthen regional maritime security cooperation.
While in Kenya, Tinubu held bilateral talks with Madagascar’s President, Michael Randrianirina, as part of efforts to deepen diplomatic and economic ties across Africa.
The President later proceeded to Kigali, Rwanda, where he joined other African leaders, investors, and business executives at the Africa CEO Forum.
Discussions at the forum focused on regional integration, cross-border investments, and practical strategies for accelerating Africa’s economic transformation.
Tinubu also met with Rwandan President Paul Kagame and held separate engagements with delegations from multinational organisations including the International Finance Corporation (IFC), APM Terminals, and the Winme Group.
The President further participated in panel discussions highlighting the objectives and progress of his administration’s economic reform agenda.
