Peter Obi has encouraged Nigerians at home and abroad to invest in the ongoing Initial Public Offering of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery.
In a statement, Peter Obi said many Nigerians had asked for his view on the offer during his engagements with citizens in Nigeria and the diaspora.
He encouraged them to buy shares in the refinery, while praising Aliko Dangote’s investment in Nigeria’s real economy.
“I remain very proud of the commitment and breakthrough of Alhaji Aliko Dangote’s investment in the real sector of our country’s economy, across different sectors,” Obi said.
He said the investment supports his position that Nigeria must move from a consumption-driven economy to one focused on production.
“This validates my position that we should move Nigeria from consumption to production,” he said.
Peter Obi also called on other Nigerian businesses to invest in productive sectors of the economy and give citizens an opportunity to participate in the country’s re-industrialisation.
“I, therefore, encourage other Nigerian businesses to invest in the productive sectors of the Nigerian economy and also give fellow Nigerian citizens the opportunity to be part of the re-industrialisation of the country by offering their shares to the public through public offerings.”
