The counting of votes has begun at Ward 6, Unit 11, Ori-Eeru, in Iwo Local Government Area of Osun State, following the completion of voting in the governorship election.
Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) have commenced the sorting and counting of ballots at the polling unit, with party agents and accredited observers present to monitor the process.
The exercise marks the next stage of the electoral process after voters cast their ballots, with INEC officials expected to record the outcome on the official result sheet before transmitting the results electronically through the commission’s result transmission system.
The collation process is expected to continue across polling units in the state as INEC begins receiving results from the various voting locations.
The Osun governorship election is being closely monitored by political parties, observers and stakeholders amid expectations of a transparent and credible process.
