Man City Make British-Record Bid For Nottingham Forest Midfielder Elliot Anderson

Manchester City submit British-record bid for Elliot Anderson as Nottingham Forest value the midfielder at £120m.

Manchester City have made a British-record bid for Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson, according to sources.

City’s verbal offer is understood to be worth £106 million ($142 million), with potential performance-related add-ons taking the value beyond £120 million ($161 million). Sources said Forest value Anderson at £120 million before bonuses.

The 23-year-old is also attracting interest from Manchester United, while City are monitoring Sandro Tonali’s situation at Newcastle United should a move for Anderson fail.

City have already seen an earlier bid worth around £85 million rejected by Forest. The latest offer would surpass the current British-record fee of £105 million paid by Arsenal to West Ham United for Declan Rice in 2023.

The current record transfer between British clubs remains Alexander Isak’s £125 million move from Newcastle United to Liverpool.

City believe Anderson is interested in a move to the Etihad Stadium after impressing during his two seasons at Forest following his transfer from Newcastle in 2024. He remains under contract at the City Ground until 2029.

Strengthening the midfield has become City’s main focus this summer following Bernardo Silva’s departure on a free transfer.
