Polish striker, Robert Lewandowski is set to begin a new chapter in Major League Soccer after agreeing to join Chicago Fire, according to transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano.
Romano reported that the former Barcelona forward reached an agreement with the MLS club after visiting Chicago and meeting with club officials two weeks ago. The deal is expected to be completed early next week, with Lewandowski due to sign his contract before being officially unveiled.
The move will bring one of Europe’s most prolific goalscorers to the United States after a successful career that saw him win league titles in Poland, Germany and Spain. Lewandowski also enjoyed remarkable success with Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich and Barcelona, establishing himself as one of the greatest strikers of his generation.
Chicago Fire hope the arrival of the 37-year-old will boost their ambitions both on and off the pitch, with the Poland captain expected to become one of the biggest stars in MLS.
An official announcement from the club is expected once the final paperwork has been completed.
