Tinubu Hails Fashola At 63, Praises Legacy In Governance

Tinubu celebrates Babatunde Fashola’s 63rd birthday, commending his contributions to governance, public service and national development.

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated former Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola, on his 63rd birthday, describing him as an outstanding public servant whose contributions have significantly shaped governance and national development in Nigeria.

In a statement issued on Sunday by his Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President praised Fashola’s record in public office, highlighting his achievements as Lagos governor and former federal minister.

Tinubu described the former governor as an accomplished legal practitioner, exceptional administrator and patriotic Nigerian whose leadership has left a lasting legacy, particularly in Lagos State.

He also commended Fashola’s loyalty to the ideals of progressive governance, integrity in public office, intellectual depth and commitment to nation-building.

The President recalled Fashola’s service as his Chief of Staff between 2003 and 2006, as well as his two-term tenure as Governor of Lagos State from 2007 to 2015, during which he said the former governor built on earlier reforms through major improvements in infrastructure, transportation, security, education, healthcare, environmental management and public sector administration.

According to Tinubu: “Fashola’s commitment to excellence, which helped to transform Lagos into a model of innovation and sustainable urban development, will continue to signpost him as an outstanding governor and leader.

“We must also commend his dedicated service in the Federal cabinet between 2015 and 2023, when he took charge of critical ministries of Works, Power and Housing.

“As former governor Fashola celebrates another year, I wish him well. I pray that Almighty Allah will grant him many more years in good health, wisdom, strength, and fulfilment as he continues to contribute to the growth, unity, and prosperity of our nation.”
