Shettima Urges Plateau Stakeholders To Unite At Governor Mutfwang’s Daughter’s Wedding

At Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s daughter’s wedding in Jos, Vice President Kashim Shettima urged Plateau stakeholders to unite for development.

Vice President Kashim Shettima, on Saturday graced the wedding reception of Nanbam Mutfwang, daughter of Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang, who was married to Jeremiah Ayodele, spotlighting the unifying power of the marriage institution and how it can be leveraged to transform the state into an economic powerhouse.

Shettima, who represented President Bola Tinubu at the wedding ceremony, said the union, which brings together the North and the South, symbolises that what binds Nigerians together far outweighs whatever seeks to divide the nation.

“We need to build bridges; we need to embrace one another. Challenges bring forth the character of leaders,” he said at the wedding reception held at Lang Field, Barkin Ladi Road, Jos.

The Vice President noted that while Plateau faces challenges, they are not insurmountable, especially with the right calibre of leadership.

He expressed delight at the presence of stakeholders, describing them as the movers and shakers of Plateau politics.

Shettima called on the people of Plateau, irrespective of their political affiliations, religious persuasions, tribal identities or sectional backgrounds, to unite.

“We can transform Plateau into an economic powerhouse,” the Vice President said, adding that though the beautiful city faces challenges that threaten to make it a depressed economy, stakeholders in Jos have the capacity to change the narrative and add value.

He urged the people to unite and live together as brothers.

On his part, Governor Mutfwang expressed delight at the presence of the Vice President and conveyed his appreciation for the goodwill of President Tinubu.

He also thanked the Federal Government for its sustained progressive reforms in enhancing security in the state and the country at large, saying, “We must continue to forge ahead with hope.”

Dignitaries at the event included Governors of Borno and Kaduna States, Babagana Umara Zulum and Uba Sani; Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa; his Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction counterpart, Dr Bernard Mohammed Doro; National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda; former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Idris Wase; Director-General of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Professor Ayo Omotayo; among other top stakeholders at the federal and state levels.

Earlier in the day, the Vice President was in Kaduna State where he attended the wedding fatiha of Salihu Bello (Sudais) and Amina Abubakar Abdullahi (Walidah).

The solemnisation involving the family of his longtime friend, Abubakar Abdullahi Attajiri, took place at the Sultan Bello Mosque, Kaduna.

Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, served as wali (guardian) for the bride, Amina Abubakar Abdullahi, while Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, stood in for the groom, Salihu Bello, during the marriage ceremony.

Shettima, who was received by Governor Sani upon arrival, was accompanied by his wife, Hajiya Nana Shettima; Governor Zulum; former Minister of Transportation, Sa’idu Ahmed Alkali; as well as some top aides and government officials.
