Lere Olayinka, spokesperson to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has said his principal is aware that he could become a target if there is a change of government.
Speaking during an interview on Arise News on Friday
Olayinka warned that Wike could face political consequences if President Bola Tinubu loses the 2027 presidential election.
According to him, Wike is a realist who understands the possible consequences of his political actions and alliances.
“One thing you must understand about Wike is that he is a realist. He does not deceive himself. If today government changes, he knows.”
Olayinka said Wike’s role in opposing political interests in the past could make him vulnerable to retaliation if the political landscape changes.
“He was part of those who were instrumental to Atiku not winning the (2023) election. The same thing Atiku people see Wike as an enemy.
“We did not allow Atiku to win the election. If Atiku could become president today, he (Wike) is automatically a target. He knows.”
Olayinka also argued that political actions could have consequences, particularly when politicians are perceived to have harmed others politically.
“And when you injure people politically, you should expect a kind of a payback. So it is not deceiving himself to believe that if Atiku becomes president tomorrow, he will become Atiku’s friend. No.
“He is not deceiving himself to have that kind of belief.”
