The Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), has dislodged a Boko Haram/ISWAP camp in Adamawa State and neutralised more than 21 terrorists during a major offensive.
The operation was carried out in the Kopre Mountain general area of Hong Local Government Area in the early hours of August 27, 2026, as security forces intensified efforts to rescue abducted persons.
A statement by Mohammed Goni, acting military information officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), said the operation followed credible intelligence on the location of the terrorist enclave.
The joint force comprised the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) Tactical Team and newly inducted troops of 226 Battalion, deployed to Sector 4, Adamawa State, on the directive of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu.
According to the statement, the troops conducted a stealth insertion into the area and successfully navigated the rugged terrain before launching a precision strike on the terrorist camp.
The operation was part of efforts to locate and rescue victims held by terrorist groups, including people abducted from Mussa community in May 2026 and schoolchildren abducted from Lassa in June.
The troops engaged the terrorists in two separate encounters during the operation, killing more than 21 of them, while several others reportedly escaped with gunshot wounds.
The joint force subsequently took control of the area, dismantled the entire camp and destroyed associated logistics infrastructure, further weakening the terrorists’ operational capabilities in the area.
During the exploitation of the camp, troops destroyed several motorcycles, bicycles and jerrycans containing Premium Motor Spirit, believed to have been used for terrorist logistics and mobility.
They also recovered several AK-47 rifles, magazines and a substantial quantity of 7.62mm Special ammunition.
The military said the operation demonstrated the troops’ ability to project combat power into difficult terrain while disrupting terrorist strongholds and restricting their freedom of movement.
The Military High Command commended the ONSA Tactical Team and OPHK troops for their gallantry, professionalism, resilience and coordination during the operation.
It said the decisive action reflected the determination of the Armed Forces and other security agencies to pursue and degrade terrorist groups wherever they seek refuge.
Operation HADIN KAI said it would sustain intelligence-driven operations aimed at locating and rescuing abducted persons, dismantling terrorist strongholds and disrupting their logistics and fighting capabilities.
The theatre also assured the public that operations would continue until all abducted persons are located and rescued, while efforts are sustained to restore lasting peace and security across the North East.
