Former President, Ijaw Youth Council, Udengs Eradiri discussed the rise of oil theft in the Niger Delta, stating that the government’s failure to pay attention to the people of the Niger Delta has propagated oil theft in the region.
He made it clear that the people of the Niger Delta are struggling desperately to survive.
As a result, they have sought comfort in the local pipelines.
He further stressed that the situation has escalated to an economic war, involving all socioeconomic classes.
In light of this, he argued that assigning the military to resolve the issue is insufficient, thus, the government must come up with more workable solutions.
