The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has dismissed as false a viral report alleging that young people living around the Nyanya area are selling their kidneys for money.
The report, which circulated widely on social media, also claimed that an agent in Mararaba was involved in the alleged purchase of human kidneys.
In a statement, the FCT Police Command said it had neither received nor confirmed any report of kidney sales or human organ trafficking in Nyanya or the surrounding area.
The Command stressed that no statement or official communication confirming the allegations had emanated from the Police.
It urged members of the public to disregard the report and refrain from sharing unverified information capable of causing fear, panic and unnecessary apprehension among residents.
However, the Police encouraged anyone with credible information on alleged human organ trafficking or any other security concern in the FCT to promptly report to the nearest police station.
