FBI Launches Investigation Into Former Ghanaian Minister Cecilia Abena Dapaah

She resigned in response to public uproar and parliamentary inquiries after $1 million cash was found at her home.

The Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) and Ghana’s Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has  launched a thorough investigation into the assets and financial transactions of the former Ghanaian Minister, Cecilia Abena Dapaah, and her partners in the United States.

In a post on the social media X, formerly called twitter, the OSP stated, “This collaborative effort aims to scrutinize the legality of Ms. Dapaah and her associates’ wealth, particularly in the context of financial transfers between Ghana and the United States.”

The OSP is now looking into claims of corruption and crimes linked to corruption against Ms. Dapaah, the former minister of sanitation. These accusations were made public following the startling find of almost $1 million in cash at her home. The theft of this significant cash by two domestic workers brought it to the attention of the public, prompting Ms. Dapaah to call the police.

Ms. Dapaah eventually resigned from her ministerial position in response to public uproar and parliamentary inquiries into the source of the money.

In a recent development, it has been revealed that the former sanitation minister has pursued legal action, submitting a court plea to suspend the Office of the Special Prosecutor’s ongoing investigation of her and her husband.

Ms. Dapaah continues to strongly refute every accusation made against her.
