The President and Chief Executive Officer of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has said one or two of his daughters could eventually lead the conglomerate, noting that they are deeply interested in the business.
Speaking during an exclusive interview with ARISE News, Dangote said he is closely watching his daughters and believes one or two of them have the capacity to take leadership of the group.
“I’m watching all of them, but I can see one or two of them that can actually lead this.”
He said his daughters’ interest in the business was important, stressing that he was not forcing them to participate in the family enterprise.
“They are very, very interested in the business, you know, which is very important. I’m not forcing them to come and be part of this business. No, they are very interested in the business.
“They enjoy it.”
Dangote said his own approach to business was also driven by personal interest rather than an obligation to work, describing his work as his hobby.
“So it’s like me now. I don’t wake up in the morning and say, look, yeah, because I’m withdrawing salary from Dangote, I have to go and work.
“As if you are forcing me to get into my car to go to my office and work. No, I enjoy what I’m doing. It’s my hobby.
“My work is my hobby. Once you take it as a hobby, then you can do well.”
