However, according to NIIA researcher Kester Onor, Boakai’s alliances may not be enough to secure a him a win in the elections.
He called for a merger of opposition parties, saying INEC conducted the worst election in Nigeria’s history.

The president narrowly won the first round but failed to get more than 50% of the vote, triggering the run-off.

Civil Society co-convener, Mimidoo Achakpa says the issue of prefilled sheets meant INEC did not do its job properly.
He won with a total of 175, 196 votes, followed by APC’s Sylva with 110,108 while LP’s Eradiri got 905 votes.
In the results released so far, PDP won in five local government areas, while APC won in one.
He got 446,237 to beat his closest challenger, SDP’s Ajaka, who got 259, 052 while PDP’s Dino Melaye got 46,362.
Some of his current ideas would probably end up in court or impeded by Congress.
The PDP has said it is keying into the petition of the SDP.
He described the exercise as shameful and unhealthy; “Prepared sheets manifested even before accreditation and evidence is all over media.”
He swept all 27 local government areas in the state.
The incumbent parties are in the lead in the respective states, even as the EFCC arrested suspected vote buyers across Bayelsa, Imo and Kogi.
Before the guber elections, the EFCC had declared Fubara a wanted person, along with 58 others, over an alleged misuse of N435bn.
“You cannot impose the deputy governorship candidate chosen by the dead candidate on the new governorship candidate,” the apex court said.
“If we continue… we’ll come to a time when the presidential election in Nigeria may be off-season.”
He commended INEC and security agencies for creating a good environment for the elections.
