Wolverhampton Wanderers forward, Tolu Arokodare is reportedly close to completing a move to Ajax, with the Dutch giants agreeing a potential £17 million package for the Nigeria international.
The 25-year-old’s future has been under scrutiny after reports last week claimed he refused to leave Wolves’ training pitch after being told he would not take part in a first-team session.
It was alleged that the incident was linked to his desire to secure a move to Fiorentina, although Arokodare denied those claims.
Wolves signed the striker from Genk for £24 million last summer, but his first season at Molineux proved difficult, with the forward scoring just six goals in 38 appearances during the 2025-26 campaign.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Ajax have now stepped in with a proposal that includes a season-long loan with an option to buy. A “club-to-club agreement” is reportedly already in place, with both sides working on the final details.
The total package is believed to be worth around €20 million (£17.1 million), although it remains unclear whether the purchase clause will be optional or mandatory.
Ajax have identified Arokodare as a priority target for new manager Michel, who is looking to strengthen his squad and guide the club back up the Eredivisie table.
While Arokodare struggled for consistency in England, Ajax are expected to be encouraged by his impressive spell in Belgium, where he scored 41 goals and provided 12 assists in 113 appearances for Genk, including 23 goals in the 2024-25 season.
