The Zamfara State Police Command has confirmed the release of the Chairman of Bungudu Local Government Area of the State, Nura Abdullahi after spending 61 days in captivity.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Yazid Abubakar confirmed the cheering news to Arise News via telephone.
He said the Chairman is currently receiving medical attention in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital.
Arise News gathered the Bungudu LG Chairman had regained his freedom alongside other persons who were abducted same day with him to unknown location.
The Police did not say whether ransom was paid to secure the victims’ freedom.
But unconfirmed reports have said that N200 million was paid to the kidnappers before now to free the Chairman and they refused and held him back in captivity, demanding additional money.
It would be recalled that two security agents attached to the Chairman were killed on that fateful day when the attackers invaded his residence in Bungudu town, they also shot his elder brother who later died in the hospital.
