Burna Boy, Tems Win Big At BET 2023

 The annual BET awards which took place on Sunday night was not only a glamorous event but also a star studded one with world superstars of flooding the occasion to perform and bag major nominations and awards within the music industry.The event was held at the Microsoft Theatre in the city of Los Angelos, United States of America.

The complete list of winners in the key categories has been announced, with notable performers including Beyonce, Ice Spice, Kendrick, Wizkid, Tems, Burna Boy, and many others all receiving nominations for the BET Awards 2023.

Nigerian singers have undoubtedly made their mark in the world as they didn’t hesitate in outstandingly representing the Nigerian music industry and Nigerians all over the world.

Popular Nigerian Afrobeats Superstar Damini Ogulu, aka Burna Boy, won the “Best International Act” prize after being nominated alongside starts like French Musician, Aya Nakamura, British  R&B singer, Ella Mai, Rappers and Drill Artists, Stormzy and Central Cee, and Nigeria’s Very Own Ayra Starr.

This would be the artist’s fourth award in the category as he’s unfailingly defended his title as Best International Act” for three years in 2019,2020, 2021 and now 2023. 

The initial winner of the award was still Nigeria’s OBO and 30BG president, Davido in 2018 since the launch in that same year.In 2022, the award was given to Nigerian Afro R&B singer, Tems.

This year, Tems was given the award for the category of Best Collaboration for the remix of her song “Wait For U” featuring American rappers, Future and Drake

Though he did not win the awards, fast rising star Asake, Mr Money with the vibes, was nominated

For the award of “Best New International” which was presented to Cameroonian Star, Libianca.

All in all the ceremony was graced with many wonderful performances especially with Davido performing his “Timeless” album medleys ‘Feel’ and ‘Unavailable’.
