Cardi B has emerged as the top nominee for the 2026 BET Awards with six nominations, while Nigerian music stars Wizkid, Asake, Tems and Burna Boy also secured places across major categories ahead of the ceremony in Los Angeles.
The nominations were released on Tuesday ahead of the awards show at the Peacock Theater on June 28. Comedian and online personality Druski will host the event. Cardi B received nominations for Album of the Year for Am I the Drama?, Best Female Hip Hop Artist, Best Collaboration, Viewers’ Choice Award, Video Director of the Year and the newly introduced Fashion Vanguard Award.
Nigerian singer Tems earned three nominations. She was recognised in Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, BET Her Award for her song “First” and the Viewers’ Choice category for “Raindance” with Dave.
Wizkid and Asake received a joint nomination in the Best Group category, while Burna Boy picked up a Best Collaboration nomination for “WGFT” with Gunna.
Cardi B’s nominations were driven by her second studio album Am I the Drama?. She also received recognition for “Outside” in the Viewers’ Choice category and “Errtime Remix” with Jeezy and Latto in Best Collaboration.
Kendrick Lamar and Mariah the Scientist followed with five nominations each. Other artistes with multiple nominations include Doechii, Doja Cat and Teyana Taylor.
The 2026 edition will also introduce two new categories, the Fashion Vanguard Award and the Pulse Award, which recognise influence in fashion, digital media and online culture.
Actors of Nigerian heritage also received nominations. Ayo Edebiri and Cynthia Erivo were nominated for Best Actress, while Damson Idris earned a Best Actor nomination.
