US Warns Citizens Of ‘Elevated Threat’ In Major Nigerian Hotels, Says Nigeria Combating It

It warned its citizens to be vigilant and ensure they keep a low profile while being alert.

The United States of America has cautioned its citizens about ‘elevated threats’ to prominent Hotels in Nigeria’s larger cities.

In a statement released on the US Embassy and Consulate in Nigeria’s website on Friday, the US revealed that they had received credible information that there were major threats to highbrow hotels in several of the larger states of the country.

However, they also revealed that Nigerian security agencies are currently combating the threat.

The statement read, “The U.S. Government is aware of credible information that there is an elevated threat to major hotels in Nigeria’s larger cities. The Nigerian security services are working diligently to counter the threat.

“The U.S. Department of State advises U.S. citizens to consider this information when arranging lodging or visiting major hotels in Nigeria.”

The government then warned their citizens to exercise vigilance at major hotels, and to ensure that they keep a low profile while being alert to their surroundings.

In October, Nigeria was also mentioned under the third tier of caution alert in a list of counties that the US had advised its citizen to restrain from visiting.
